Locksmiths

Accounting software for locksmiths: van stock, service calls and commercial accounts

A locksmith runs a parts store out of a van and bills two very different customers: the homeowner locked out at night and the property manager with forty doors to rekey. AcboBooks handles both, with van stock as inventory and monthly statements for commercial accounts.

For mobile locksmiths and lock and safe shops in the US and Canada, $399.99 once.

No card, no account. Windows 10 and 11. United States and Canada.

What it means

In practice

Parts that sell from the van

Locksets, cylinders, key blanks and safe parts are inventory items at average cost. Each sale takes them out of stock and posts the cost, so you know what the van is worth.

Cash calls and account work

A lockout paid on the spot is a sales receipt. A property manager's rekeys go on an invoice with terms, and a monthly statement shows what is still open.

Service charges as items

Trip charge, after-hours fee, rekey per cylinder and labour per hour are service items with their own prices and tax settings.

Questions people ask

Before you download

Can I track stock in more than one van?

Stock is tracked as one quantity per item, not by location. Many shops use a class per van to see sales and costs by van.

Do I charge sales tax on labour?

Some states and provinces tax repair labour and some do not. Set each service item's taxable flag to match the rule where you work.

How do I bill a property manager for many doors?

Make the manager the customer and each building a job. Invoice each job, and send one statement for everything open.

Can I record card payouts with the fees taken out?

Yes. On the deposit, enter the processor fee on the fee line with your fee expense account, so the deposit matches the bank.
