QuickBooks Enterprise alternative
A QuickBooks Enterprise alternative for businesses that never needed Enterprise
Since Intuit stopped selling QuickBooks Desktop Pro Plus and Premier Plus to new US customers, Enterprise is the only Desktop edition left to buy. It is a capable product, priced for larger businesses: an annual subscription per user, by tier, with payroll on top.
If you were a Pro or Premier business and only need what those editions did, AcboBooks covers it on your own PC for $399.99 once, and imports your QuickBooks Desktop data.
No card, no account. Windows 10 and 11. QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise prices and features checked October 2026. AcboBooks is not affiliated with Intuit.

Why people leave
Common reasons businesses leave QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise, and what changes
You are paying for a 30-user product
Enterprise is built for up to 30 users (40 on Diamond), warehouses and advanced inventory. A five-person business pays for headroom it never uses. AcboBooks is sized for small businesses: two computers in the licence, more seats if you need them.
It is still a subscription
Enterprise renews every year at Intuit's current price, and stops being editable if you do not renew. AcboBooks is bought once; renewing updates is optional (payroll users need it for each year's new tax tables) and the program keeps working either way.
Payroll costs extra on every employee
Enterprise payroll is charged per employee. AcboBooks includes payroll: US federal tables, W-2, 1099-NEC and direct deposit files, and Canadian CPP, EI, T4 and T4A.
Pricing by phone call
Enterprise is sold by quote. AcboBooks has one price on the website, the same for everyone.

Three years
What the same three years cost
About $2,210 a year for one user on Gold (NerdWallet's 2026 review; Intuit sells Enterprise by quote and no longer lists the yearly price). Each extra user needs its own licence, and payroll adds per-employee fees.

Being fair
Who should stay with QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise
Choose Enterprise if you really need what it is built for: more than a handful of simultaneous users, advanced inventory with multiple locations, barcodes and serial numbers, advanced pricing rules, or an industry edition's reports. AcboBooks is not a replacement for a 30-person distribution business.
What AcboBooks does not do
· A Windows desktop program; a Mac version is coming soon, and there is no phone app.
· No automatic bank feed for most banks; it imports the OFX, QFX or CSV statement your bank provides, and downloads directly from banks that offer OFX Direct Connect.
· Card payments go through a Stripe payment link on the invoice, not a built-in processor.
Moving your books
From QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise to AcboBooks
Moving from Pro, Premier or Enterprise to AcboBooks uses the same paths, described on the Move from QuickBooks page.
IIF export from any edition: lists and opening balances.
Live pull through Intuit's SDK on the same PC (QuickBooks Desktop 2019 or later): lists, open invoices, open bills and credit memos.
Verify the trial balance, ageing and bank balances in both programs at the same date.
Advanced Inventory locations and serial numbers have no equivalent in AcboBooks; stock comes across as a single location. Free migration help: we check your import with you on a free 30-minute call. Details on the Move from QuickBooks page.

Payroll included, no per-employee fee.
Questions people ask
Leaving QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise: the practical questions
Is Enterprise the only QuickBooks Desktop I can buy?
For new US customers, yes. Intuit stopped selling new Desktop Pro Plus, Premier Plus and Mac Plus subscriptions after September 30, 2024. Existing subscribers can renew.
How much does QuickBooks Enterprise cost?
Intuit sells it by quote, per user and tier. Published 2026 figures put Gold at about $2,210 a year for one user (Platinum about $2,717, Diamond about $5,364), each extra user needs its own licence, and payroll is charged per employee on top.
Does AcboBooks have advanced inventory?
It has inventory with average cost, reorder points, purchase orders and stock counts, at one location. It does not have multiple warehouses, barcodes or serial numbers.
Is there a free trial?
Yes. The trial runs for 15 days with every feature, no card and no account. If you buy, nothing is re-entered; the file you were working in simply stops counting down.
What does the licence cover?
$399.99 buys AcboBooks Pro for one business on two computers, for as long as you like, with 12 months of updates and email support. After that the software keeps working; renewing updates is optional, though payroll users need it for each year's new tax tables.
Is my data safe on my own computer?
Each company file is encrypted inside the database with your password (AES-256), so a copied or stolen file can't be read without your password. Back it up like any file; the app can do that automatically each time it closes.
Can my accountant get in?
Yes, without paying for a seat. Give them a backup copy, or add them as a user on your network, or use the accountant invite from inside the app. Their adjusting entries import back without double-posting.
