Restaurants and cafes
Restaurant accounting software: daily sales, tips and food cost
Post each day's Z-report in one screen: food and beverage sales, sales tax and tips, against the cash and card actually collected. Tips build up as a liability you pay out to staff, and payroll handles tips on the paycheck.
For independent restaurants, cafes, bars and food trucks in the US and Canada, $399.99 once.
No card, no account. Windows 10 and 11. United States and Canada.

What it means
In practice
The day in one entry
Type the Z-report totals: food, beverage, tax and tips, and how it was paid. The sales, the tax owed and the tips owed all post at once.
Tips handled right
Card tips accrue to Tips Payable; pay them out in cash or through payroll, where tips are treated as wages for tax.
Food cost you can see
Supplier bills go to food and beverage cost accounts, so the profit and loss shows food cost against food sales every week.

Food and beverage cost against sales, any week.
Close the day, close the books
After service, enter the Z-report and the deposit. When the card processor pays out, the bank import matches it.
Weekly, check prime cost: food, beverage and labour against sales, straight from the profit and loss.

Hourly payroll with tips on the paycheck.
What it does not do
· Not a point-of-sale system; you enter the totals from your POS Z-report.
· No recipe costing or ingredient-level inventory.
· Windows 10 and 11 for now (a Mac version is coming soon); no phone app.
· It imports your bank's statement file rather than connecting live to the bank.
Questions people ask
Before you download
Does it connect to my POS?
No. Enter the day's Z-report totals, which takes a minute.
How are card tips handled?
They are owed to staff, so they post to a Tips Payable liability. Paying them out, in cash or on the paycheck, clears it.
Can I track food cost?
Yes, at the account level: food and beverage purchases go to cost accounts and the P&L shows them against food and beverage sales.
