Handyman services
Accounting software for handyman businesses: small jobs, materials and mileage
Bill small jobs with a sales receipt or an invoice, pass hardware store purchases through to the customer, log the miles you drive to each job, and keep the books clean whether you work alone or with a helper.
For handyman and home repair businesses in the US and Canada, $399.99 once instead of a monthly fee.
No card, no account. Windows 10 and 11. United States and Canada.

What it means
In practice
Time and materials
Clock your time on a job with the timer. Store purchases on your card are marked billable to the customer, then pulled onto the invoice with the hours and your markup.
Fixed prices for common jobs
Make a service item at a set price for jobs you do often, like mounting a TV or hanging a door, so the invoice takes a minute.
Miles that count
Log each trip to a customer or the supply store with its purpose. Trips for a customer can be billed to them, and the log is a record of business miles for your accountant.

Hours and materials on one invoice.
A one-person business with real books
You may start alone with no payroll. That works fine: invoices, expenses by account and a profit and loss at year-end for your accountant.
When you hire a helper, payroll is already there, with overtime and workers' comp.

What it does not do
· No booking, scheduling or invoicing from the road: invoices are made on the PC.
· Windows 10 and 11 for now (a Mac version is coming soon); no phone app.
· It imports your bank's statement file rather than connecting live to the bank.
Questions people ask
Before you download
Is it too much for a one-person business?
You only use the parts you need. Many sole operators use invoices, expenses and the bank reconciliation and nothing else until they hire.
Can I bill a property manager by unit?
Yes. The property manager is the customer and each unit or address is a job under it, so every invoice and cost is tracked per unit and the statement shows them all.
Can I keep my receipts with the expense?
Yes. Attach the receipt file to the transaction when you enter it, and it stays with that record.
When do I need to charge GST/HST in Canada?
Generally once your taxable revenue passes $30,000 over four consecutive calendar quarters, the small supplier threshold. AcboBooks handles GST/HST once you register; confirm your situation with the CRA or your accountant.
