What it means

In practice

Every service in one entry

Type the day's food and drink sales, sales tax and tips, and how much came in as cash and card. Sales, tax owed and tips owed all post at once.

Which spots pay

Make each event, market or regular location a class. Event fees and sales carry the class, and the P&L by class shows what each one earned after its costs.

The truck as an asset

Record the truck as a fixed asset with depreciation, linked to its loan. Loan payments split into principal and interest from the amortisation schedule.

A profit and loss report

Profit by event and location with classes.

Know which festival was worth the fee

A weekend festival charges a booth fee and a share of sales. Enter the fee as a bill with the event's class and the sales under the same class, and the margin is plain.

Catering bookings take a deposit up front, applied to the final invoice after the event.

What it does not do

· Not a point-of-sale system; enter the totals from your card reader or POS.

· Windows 10 and 11 for now (a Mac version is coming soon); no phone app.

· It imports your bank's statement file rather than connecting live to the bank.

Questions people ask

Before you download

Do I need a POS that connects to it?

No. Use whatever card reader you have, and enter its daily totals in AcboBooks.

I sell in several cities with different tax rates. Can it cope?

Yes. Set up each rate with its agency and choose the right one on each day's sale. The liability report gives each agency's figures.

How do I record the truck loan?

Set up the loan with its rate and term, link it to the truck as a fixed asset, and each payment is split into principal and interest.
