What it means
In practice
Each event is a job
Set up the client with the event as a job. Food bills, rentals and staff time carry the job, and the Job Profitability report shows income, cost and margin per event.
Deposits held properly
A deposit is money you owe the client until the event happens, so it is held as a liability and applied to the final invoice, not counted as sales early.
Quote to invoice
The estimate becomes the invoice. Add the final head count, extra service hours and gratuity, and the balance due is what is left after the deposit.

The final invoice, less the deposit.
Price the next event from what the last one really cost
Every bill for the event (produce, rentals, the extra van) and every hour your staff worked goes against its job. After the event, the job report shows the real margin.
Over a season, that tells you which menus and which kinds of events are worth taking.

· It imports your bank's statement file rather than connecting live to the bank.
Questions people ask
Before you download
How are event deposits recorded?
As customer deposits: a liability until the event. Apply the deposit to the final invoice and only the balance is left to collect.
Can I see profit per event?
Yes. Make each event a job under the client; the Job Profitability report shows income, costs and margin for each.
Can I pay contract servers and bartenders?
Yes, as vendors marked for 1099-NEC in the US or T4A in Canada, or as employees through payroll.
